The gap we set out to close
Traditional feed management runs on periodic lab results and experience. By the time an imbalance shows up in growth or health, the feed has been in the water for weeks.
FeedOptima monitors nutrient intake as it happens, analyses it against the requirements of the species and stage, and recommends the formulation change, with the reasoning shown.
Our mission is to help producers feed precisely, cut waste, and keep aquafeed sustainable as demand for farmed seafood grows.

The founder
Sunny Shang founded FeedOptima after a career running animal nutrition operations at Cargill, one of the largest feed companies in the world. The problems the platform solves are ones she managed first-hand.

Why Canada first
Canada has about 80,000 km of marine coastline that can support aquaculture and fisheries, yet ranks around 25th in world aquaculture production. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is funding the use of AI in commercial agrifood. FeedOptima starts with Canadian aquafeed producers and expands from there.
